Christina Alexander, founder of the United States Canada Peace Anniversary Association (USCPAA), has been invited to give a presentation of the history of the International Peace Arch and the work of the USCPAA in promoting peace at an international conference entitled Towards a World without Violence in Barcelona, Spain, June 23-27, 2004. This 5-day congress is part of the larger
World Forum of Cultures Barcelona 2004 (Forum Barcelona 2004 May 9 to September 26, 2004), a new world event based on cultures and arts, designed to counterbalance the tensions of globalization through dialogue, debate, and celebration. "Educating and mobilizing for a culture of peace" will be one of the topics explored during the Congress.
Ms. Alexander has been invited to participate based on her knowledge and expertise gleaned from her work with the Peace Arch International Park and the USCPAA over the past nine years. "Your work with the Peace Arch Park is an excellent example of peacebuilding efforts in North America and would be a very positive contribution to our theme of educating and mobilizing for a culture of peace," stated Ashleigh
Arledge, Conference Organizer for the International Peace Bureau, Geneva, Switzerland.
