Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Peace Arch Redevelopment Project

At this time we only have one design image of the Canadian (Douglas) entry redevelopment project. Our most recent letters from the Canada Border Services Agency are available for viewing at the links below. We will continue keep the public updated on the redevelopment of the border facilities on the Canadian side and American side of Peace Arch International Park. We will post any new information as it is received by the USCPAA.

Peace Arch Po
rt of Entry Redevelopment

In April of 2001, the GSA held a meeting and shared with the public plans for the Peace Arch Border Crossing redevelopment. These plan has a very negative affect on the park by destroying several acres of park land.

The first meeting since the April 2001, meeting was held November 2, and 30th in Blaine. At this meeting the GSA presented all new design plans for the border crossing. These plans are based on post 911 requirements placed on the involved agencies.

Below you will find designs A, B & D. The public was not shown Option C at the meeting. We were told that Option C had been scrapped because it has been deemed unfeasible therefore it was unnecessary to show us the plan.

Public comments are needed to assure the parks protection. We are all aware of the BUZZ WORDS of Homeland Security. We need to make the Government aware that the loss of any park land is unacceptable and that there are other options for development available to them including expanding to the west.

A copy of the redevelopment plans, "frequently asked questions and answers" along with public comments sheets are available for public viewing in the Blaine Public Library reference section.

We urge members of the community and businesses, in Canada and the U.S. to take the time to familiarize themselves with the plans and submit their written comment to the GSA as a part of the public scoping process through December 31, 2004.
