The Peace Arch is located on the US Canada Boundary between Blaine, Washington, and Surrey, British Columbia. As you can see on the North American map, America’s most famous monument, the Statue of Liberty, stands on the east coast of the United States.  And on the west coast the Peace Arch stands at the edge of the Pacific Ocean on the border between Washington and British Columbia.

While it is not as well known we (USCPAA) consider the Peace Arch to be the West Coast's Statue of Liberty. Why, you may ask?  Because it is the result of two countries' determining and drawing their boundaries peacefully as they struggled to determine their land boundaries and cultural identities. It's a natural balance to have a symbol of a new world of freedom on the Atlantic coast and a symbol of unity and friendship next to the waters of the Pacific (an ocean named for peace) on the other.
